Thanksgiving is basically…tomorrow, and I’ve seen a lot of posts, images, insta-stories, reels, etc. talking about what your dog is not allowed to eat during this festivity, and I agree, it is vital to be educated about what human foods are not safe for our furry babies, but I haven’t seen one single post giving options to treat and include our dogs in our Thanksgiving celebration. That’s why I decided to share this easy and quick recipe so you can treat your doggy tomorrow! Of course, dogs have no idea what Thanksgiving is, but they are part of our families so why not include them?

This is a salmon cake recipe, and I used it as a birthday cake for Cinderella, but I think it is such a great idea not only for Thanksgiving but for any celebration so you are more than welcome to make this cake for your dog’s birthday, gotcha day, Christmas and New Year. If your dog is not a fan of salmon, you can use any other meat that your dog loves (chicken, beef, beef green tripe, duck, turkey, whatever is considered yummy for your dog)

Ingredients:

For the cake

  • 1 egg
  • 1 wild-caught salmon fillet
  • 1/2 cup coconut flour

For the frosting

  • 2 tbsp non-fat yogurt
  • 1 tbsp low-fat cream cheese
  • 5 blueberries

Preheat your oven to 350

  1. Used your food processor (a blender works too) for mincing the salmon.
  2. Beat the minced salmon and the egg together until smooth.
  3. Stir in the coconut flour.
  4. Place the mix on a lightly greased pan (use coconut oil to grease).
  5. Bake for 20 minutes.

To make the frosting, simply whisk all the ingredients together.

Let your cake cool off for at least 1 hour before decorating it with the frosting.

And, that’s it! a delicious and healthy treat for your doggy to enjoy while you have your Thanksgiving dinner!
